DAW SUU (... the Lady, so at her country, is called Aung San Suu Kyi) was arrested with all the deputies and militants of her party, the National League for Democracy. The soldiers waited for the dawn of the opening ceremony of the new Parliament in the capital Naypyidaw to take the Lady - Nobel Peace Prize in 1991 and Foreign Minister of Myanmar - whose strategy ("ahimsa"), inspired by the doctrine of non violence of Mahatma Gandhi, was mocked by the generals who, with this coup, have openly shown to the whole world the fragility of the dream pursued by Aung San Suu Kyi to reach reconciliation with her persecutors. The military has once again thrown off the mask of "false democracy" with which for years they have deceived millions of Burmans and the entire international community.
In this period, marked by the "recession of democracies", this violent frontal attack by the military to the transition to a state subject to the rule of law has absolutely to be condemned by all possible means.
In the motivation for the Nobel Peace Prize which was awarded to the Lady, it was written: "an example of the power of those who have no power".
… for a free and democratic Burma.
Please DO NOT publish your work(s) on social, in order not to anticipate anything about the future exhibition.
The artwork will be inserted into the thorns of barbed wire mounted on the walls of the exhibition space that will host the project ... always covid permitting.
When you have decided to participate, send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible, so that I can insert your name in the participants list that will be published in the press release and in the communication material of the project.
Hi all, I’m a Fine Art student looking for anybody interested in helping me with an assignment on Mail Art, we’ve been given the task of creating an online project so I’ve decided to exchange art with people around the world and exhibit it on an Instagram feed.
There is no briefing on what can be sent, if anything I would encourage people to send me things they enjoy making (as we all have our preferred ways of working). I will of course return the favour by sending something back. Please do let me know If you would be interested. I am relatively new to the concept of mail art so this is an exciting opportunity for me! (Anything late will still be added as well, I will also accept emailed work).
⚠ Images of the works submitted can be used by the organization in the way and for purposes considered appropriate, without financial claim from the artists invited to participate.

Submissions received from now will be entered with in-situ text into the museum collection on the 5Ft Storyhouse blog.
Caught in a second confinement that plunges us more and more into isolation and face to face with societal dysfunctions we invite you to take part into a mail art project: “Words against system headaches / Words for new utopias”.
Indeed words are not innocent. Words are not neutral, they are socially situated and criticism of their use, of their meaning should be part of the political struggle.
This mail art proposal is part of the CEPAG’s campaign “Social struggles pass also through words” which looks into the misuse of words, their impact on the surrounding culture, and their political evolution.
Economic, political, class, gender, age, ethnic origin… Words and their use participate in the reproduction of bonds of subordination and in the social positioning of the speaker.
This mail art proposal is the opportunity to give free rein to your imagination, to re-appropriate words, and give them their meaning back.
Speaking out through mail art to denounce the system’s headaches.
Speaking through mail art to affirm new utopias, new imaginations, new cultural and political identities.

Quinta da Cruz - Centro de Arte Contemporânea is located at Viseu – Portugal, and was created as a dynamic center for art, culture, and identity. It is a cultural space oriented towards the exhibition of contemporary art, to the development of artistic practices, and is perceived as an engine of local artistic promotion. Intended for public enjoyment, culture, and leisure, it is integrated into a wide green space of excellence and remarkable biodiversity.
The Mail Art project promotes the democratic participation of artistic practices, through the reactivation of an expression that had its peak, in an alternative way to the conventional means of art exhibitions, in the 60s / 70s. Annually, an international open call is created and an exhibition is held with the received artwork.
It furthermore legitimates, that artistic production is a preponderant expression for the creation of dialogue spaces, places of "rupture", reinvention and boldness. Through this call, the transformative, inclusive and participatory role of art is implicit. The route of these works is interpreted and intervened throughout this postal journey. More than an annual call, this project claims a model of collaborative work with the goal of constituting and giving visibility to collections of this nature.
In 2021, VISEU values natural attributes and the relationship with the “environment”. The IV OPEN CALL is directed to the theme VISEU Garden - City.
We launch an invitation to artists and to everyone else interested in Mail Art to send their artwork and join in the IV Edition of this open call. Only artwork received by traditional snail mail will be displayed. We hope to receive drawings, collages, stamps, visual poetry, among others, at Quinta da Cruz - Contemporary Art Center of Viseu.
• Only one side of the artwork will be displayed.
• Artwork considered obscene or offensive will be excluded.
• All artwork, even those received after the deadline, will integrate the Quinta da Cruz Museum collection and may be exhibited at future Mail Art events.

like it or not, www.mailart.pt lists active open calls sorted out by due date, as well as exhibitions, artists, links of interest, and so on ... but it may end up being much more
only after starting this listing, at 01_august_2018, i did realize the extraordinary amount of new open calls coming up all the time ... almost 20 new ones per month! and that's only those that i can grasp... from automatic bot searches, constant research, direct emailing, and from those special people that keep me updated on what is going on in the community
so, for all of those like me that enjoy stats and precise numbers ... since it began we're talking of around 500 open calls totaling around 1 new open call every other day
// check the FAQ section to learn how to contribute to this archive and how to submit artwork to the listed open calls
